Dream Society is WHOLLY DEDICATED to helping men successfully pursue their dreams. The resources available to our members include a growing collection of videos and articles from men who have won and lost, succeeded and failed, been broke and broken, yet have had the tenacity to get up one more time. They cover such subjects as Family, Fitness, Finance, Faith and Friendship. Everything is offered with an open hand, and each man chooses what advice to take on board and what to leave on the table.
As one of the founders of Dream Society, I have my share of tragic stories about brothers who haven't seen their dreams come true. We can blame the size of the dream or the limitations of the dreamer, but blame is a cruel game to play. Loosely based on an old quote, at best, we are all just beggars telling other beggars where to find bread.
In this photo of my brother Terry and me (Terry on the left), travelling around Australia in 1980, we were both young and full of dreams for the future.
Seven years later, Terry would be gone, lost to the despair, darkness, and hopelessness that have led too many good men (and women) to suicide.
I wish this were the only such story I have to tell. It is not.
It is now 45 years since this photo was taken.
As a broken and repaired (many times over), flawed human being, I have joined with a group of like-minded men with a vision to create a safe space for dreams to be nurtured, wounds to be healed, hope to be dispensed, and friendships to be forged. Perhaps men like Terry might find themselves at a Dream Society event and walk away with that small kernel of perspective that becomes the beginning of restoration and healing and leads them from the darkness to the light of a new hope for the future.
I hope so.
